We have all had some
form of dental problem in our lives, whether it be a cavity, bleeding
gums, toothache, etc. Well in all my years of using and selling
electric water ionizers, one of the benefits I have discovered is how
the alkaline ionized water has helped with my oral hygiene.
Acidity in Your
Body and Tooth Decay
When our bodies are too acidic we have natural mechanisms set in
place that take certain alkaline minerals from other parts of our
body in order to maintain an ideal pH. This is to keep our blood in a
slightly alkaline state with a pH of around 7.4. One of the sources
of alkaline minerals is calcium from our teeth. Now what happens when
calcium is being leached from our teeth to ensure our body maintains
a constant pH level? You guessed it – cavities!
But what happens when we maintain an alkaline environment in our body
by drinking plenty, and I do mean PLENTY, of alkaline water and eat
alkaline foods? Our bodies don't need to tap into its reserves of
alkaline minerals and therefore we suffer less, if not no, tooth
decay!
Acidity in Your
Mouth and Alkaline Water
Drinking alkaline ionized water with a pH of at least 8.8 aids in
killing the excess acids in your mouth that also contribute to tooth
decay. With our typical American diet, our mouth and saliva are more
acidic than they should be. But drinking alkaline water will
handle this acidity so that it doesn't wreak havoc on your teeth.
Another facet to this is gingivitis and periodontal disease. It has
been shown that rinsing with the acid ionized water effectively kills
the bacteria in your mouth that contribute to gum disease.
I recommend using alkaline water to brush with and then rinsing your
mouth with acidic ionized water to kill any lingering bacteria. I
also suggest rinsing your toothbrush with the acidic water to kill
any bacteria on your toothbrush's bristles.
Here are more common ailments that can be remedied by drinking
alkaline ionized water.
