Alkaline Water and the Health of Your Feet

Man, summer got here fast. And you know what that means – sandals and open-toed shoes for the next 5-6 months. Let's make sure your tootsies are ready for that kind of exposure all summer long.

Alkaline Water and Toenail/Foot Fungus

I know this is probably either an embarrassing or icky topic to talk about, but I'm sure most of us have dealt with it or know someone who has and it's good to have a solution ready. I have unfortunately had the bad experience of removing my toenail polish and seeing a little black spot on my big toenail. This was about a month after getting a pedicure and I knew that their foot tubs must not have been cleaned properly. I knew better than to go back there again. And I wish I had known about this easy solution to help.

We all have fungus and bacteria lurking around on our feet. It's just whether it takes over and becomes damaging to the toenails and eventually the toenail beds.

But here is a way to stop the fungus in its tracks. This also works well for athlete's foot, which, by the way, is not just for athletes. Anyone can get it. Especially if you walk barefoot in a gym locker room, public swimming pool, hot tubs, etc.

Here's what you will need:

2.5 pH acidic water
11.5 pH alkaline water
A spray bottle
A tub or other receptacle to soak your feet in

Directions:

1. Twice a day, spray the affected area with  2.5 pH acidic water. Do not dry with a towel, but allow to air dry.
2. For severe cases, soak affected areas in 11.5 pH for 20 minutes up to 4 times a week.3. After soaking, pat dry then completely air dry and spray nails with 2.5 pH acidic water and let air dry.4. Moisturize with hydrating lotion.

Along with this daily regimen, I suggest treating your footwear in this fashion:
1. Wash socks thoroughly with 2.5 pH water and allow them to soak.
2. Soak tennis shoe in 2.5 pH water for an hour before washing.
3. Spray inside of shoes thoroughly with 2.5 pH water and allow to dry.

This regimen will also cut down on dry, cracked skin on your heels and toes.

Feel free to let me know how this goes for you and if you have any questions.

Alkaline Water and Dental Problems

We have all had some form of dental problem in our lives, whether it be a cavity, bleeding gums, toothache, etc. Well in all my years of using and selling electric water ionizers, one of the benefits I have discovered is how the alkaline ionized water has helped with my oral hygiene.

smile, white teeth, healthy gums, periodontal disease, ionized water

Acidity in Your Body and Tooth Decay

When our bodies are too acidic we have natural mechanisms set in place that take certain alkaline minerals from other parts of our body in order to maintain an ideal pH. This is to keep our blood in a slightly alkaline state with a pH of around 7.4. One of the sources of alkaline minerals is calcium from our teeth. Now what happens when calcium is being leached from our teeth to ensure our body maintains a constant pH level? You guessed it – cavities!

But what happens when we maintain an alkaline environment in our body by drinking plenty, and I do mean PLENTY, of alkaline water and eat alkaline foods? Our bodies don't need to tap into its reserves of alkaline minerals and therefore we suffer less, if not no, tooth decay!

Acidity in Your Mouth and Alkaline Water

Drinking alkaline ionized water with a pH of at least 8.8 aids in killing the excess acids in your mouth that also contribute to tooth decay. With our typical American diet, our mouth and saliva are more acidic than they should be. But drinking alkaline water will handle this acidity so that it doesn't wreak havoc on your teeth.

Another facet to this is gingivitis and periodontal disease. It has been shown that rinsing with the acid ionized water effectively kills the bacteria in your mouth that contribute to gum disease.

I recommend using alkaline water to brush with and then rinsing your mouth with acidic ionized water to kill any lingering bacteria. I also suggest rinsing your toothbrush with the acidic water to kill any bacteria on your toothbrush's bristles.

Here are more common ailments that can be remedied by drinking alkaline ionized water.

How to Use a Water Ionizer

Many people will only use their water ionizer for drinking water.  Well, today I'm going to go over a few other ways you could use your water ionizer.

A water ionizer has three different types of water that it produces: alkaline, purified, and acidic. There are various degrees of alklaline and acidic water and below is a break down of when you would use which:

Alkaline Water

Drinking: At 8.5 pH to 9.5 or 10 pH alkaline ionized water is the perfect drinking water.

Vitamins: Feel free to drink whatever level of ionized water you are drinking with taking your vitamins.

Cleaning: At the highest levels of alkalinity [10.5 - 11.5 pH] the ionized water will emulsify oils.

Filtered Water

Medications: A neutral 7.0 - 8.0 pH filtered water is perfect for taking medications. For 20-30 min. before and after taking medications it is suggested to only drink filtered water.

Infants & Todlers: A neutral pH is perfect for babies. Give babies and todlers "filtered" water, not ionized, until they are about 2 years old. After that, you can slowly introduce them to ionized water [i.e., over the next 2 - 3 years use level 1, then do the same for level 2, etc.]. At about 9 or 10, a child can drink the same level as an adult.

Acidic Water

Skin and Hair: Acidic water at the 3 - 4 pH-level is perfect for neutralizing the skin and hair [which should be about 5.5 pH] See more on this page: http://www.alkalinewaterplus.com/beauty-tips

Skin Toner and Conditioner: Your acid mantle [outermost layer] of your skin is your body's first line of defense against bacterial, fungal or viral infections. It is important to maintain this acid mantle at about a 5.5 pH.

Hair Rinse: When you rinse with water at a pH of about 3.0 to 4.0, this low pH water combines with the high pH of your newly washed hair and restores it to its ideal pH of about 5.5.

Natural, Healthy Coolant: It's healthier for you to use acid water at about a 5.5 pH in your mister, rather than regular tap water, because the goal of misting is to cool yourself, not change the pH of your skin. The proper pH of skin is about 5.5 pH.

Natural Laundry Softener: Add acid water to your final rinse cycle of any load of laundry. This removes residual alkaline minerals from the clothing, brightens up the colors, and softens the laundry naturally, without the use of chemicals.

Plants: Acid water at the pH levels of 5 - 7 pH is great for watering plants. Plants love the purified micro clustered water, and they also love the water to be slightly acidic. Flowering plants tend to like lower acidity than green shade-plants.

Germicidal Water: To kill germs it is best to use acid water at the pH level of 2.5 - 4. The lower the pH the faster the germs are killed, but even at a 4 pH, if you soak something for about a minute it will kill the germs on it. Laboratory testing has proven that exposure to acidic water at a 2.5 pH and lower kills germs on contact.

Alkaline Ionized water is not only for drinking!

I am a strong advocate of drinking alkaline ionized water for better health.  And I can tell you that after over 20 years of drinking alkaline water, I feel healthier than I did when I was young.  But, today I had another reason to use it.  I ate some chilly for lunch and got a spot on my new ivory sweater.  I thought, what a perfect way to highligt the many uses of ionized water.  I then used the highest setting of alkaline as a stain remover and it worked great to loosen up the stain.  I only added a small drop of soap to get the remainder of the stain out.  See pictures below.

Before using alkaline water

After using alkaline water

As you can see, the sweater looks practically brand new!  This is a great way to cost effectively get rid of any stain.  I have even, myself, gotten a blueberry stain out of a white shirt before without any harsh chemicals.
